"I aspire to establish myself as a successful duck farmer. I seek everyone's cooperation to achieve that." - Taniya Begum, Programme Participant, Climate Change Programme
In the serene village of Maizbari in Sunamganj, Taniya Begum, a resilient homemaker, faced the daunting challenge of rebuilding her life after the devastating floods of 2022. Amidst adversity, SAJIDA Foundation became her beacon of hope, offering not just assistance but a pathway to self-sufficiency.
Taniya's husband, Helal Mia, toils as a day laborer, regularly facing uncertainty in finding daily work. The family, renting a relative's house, struggles to make ends meet. Two young children add to the financial strain.
Selected as a participant in March 2023, Taniya underwent a three-day training in climate-resilient agriculture and natural-based solutions. Empowered with knowledge, she received seven ducks, seeds for 11 types of vegetables, and other essentials to embark on her journey.
Taniya dreams beyond ducks; her vision includes goats, cows, and a tin-roofed house—a symbol of stability and peace for her family. Financial constraints once hindered her from seeking medical help for skin disease and hand pain. SAJIDA Foundation's static clinic not only provided treatment but became a source of relief.
As her health improved, Taniya's infectious smile now reflects hope and gratitude. "I aspire to establish myself as a successful duck farmer. I seek everyone's cooperation to achieve that," she beams, embodying the spirit of resilience and dreams revitalised through SAJIDA Foundation.
