Microfinance
"It was SAJIDA’s support that helped me reach my production target of summer clothes even during the pandemic."
Md Abdul Hakim, a ready-made garments factory owner, is an inspiring story of success for SAJIDA Foundation. Hakim’s father started a small pavement garment business in 1984 due to poor financial condition. Carrying on his father’s legacy, Abdul Hakim later established his own garment factory with only BDT 40,000. After a while he raised BDT 2,40,000 to expand his business, but it was not sufficient. During this time, he came to know about SAJIDA’s Microfinance program.
Through SAJIDA’s Lalbagh branch, Hakim was granted a total loan of BDT 24,00,000 in 16 phases. This enabled him to expand the operation and grow his business. Hakim’s hard work and diligence enabled him to meet BDT 8 crore of summer clothes, a seemingly impossible sales target, specifically during the peak of Covid-19. Hakim’s small factory which started with 5 machines, now operates 65 machines and has over 1.2 crore of working capital. Hakim’s son Md. Najim Uddin is now taking the business to the next level and plans to export their products in the near future. Hakim and his son can now provide a good living standard for their family and employees.
Abdul Hakim is the perfect example of how organizations supporting promising entrepreneurs will ensure the cycle extends to future generations.
