"My profession fills me with a lot of gratitude. The opportunity to be part of a part of bringing a new life is truly something special."

Dr. Saria Nafia’s life has been a fascinating journey of making a difference in the lives of those who have trusted her with their precious lives. It’s invigorating, especially in her job as an obstetrician and gynaecologist, where she deals with the two lives; of the baby and the mother. Dr. Nafia began her career as an obstetrician three years ago at SAJIDA Hospital Keraniganj, where she trained, practiced, and served. Knowing how difficult, long and tedious the journey can be for patients and their family, she has approached them with compassion, understanding, and empathy.

Saria enjoys treating women in Keraniganj and receiving feedback from them, which provides her with insight and confidence. The satisfaction that comes from a job well done is the most rewarding aspect of her job. The gratefulness and prayers of the patients she serves motivates her to do even better.

Saria’s varied and unique experiences have given her different perspectives on how medicine should be practiced. “I believe that as a doctor, it is more important to provide mental support to the patient than physical support,” Saria stated.

Saria appreciates how each patient is treated with equal care at SAJIDA hospital. Patients in labor are supervised by medical officers who ensure respectful deliveries. Within one week of discharge, every patient receives a call from medical officers to ensure they are healthy and satisfied with the services. Nurses call patients to discuss their hygiene, eating habits, and medications. According to Saria, continuous efforts, care and dedication towards patient welfare is what differentiates SAJIDA Hospital from other.

After three years of practice, Saria has blossomed into a self-assured and seasoned obstetrician ready to take on the world. “The three years I have spent here has been the turning point in my life.”
